Clober Farm

Work continues on site apace, as we edge ever closer to seeing our finished article. We have received a number of the questionnaires back with some great comments. Again if you have sent one of  these in, please get in touch so we can discuss how you would like to use Clober Farm.
  • BSL have been on site for 5 1/2 weeks with the works officially stating on 16 January 2012;
  • Downtaking works are 100% complete as per programme;
  • Internal excavations are 100% complete as per programme;
  • New structural steelwork is 30% complete, slightly behind programme due to additional works (see previous blog update)
  • Additional internal structural works are 60% complete, which were not in the original programme;
  • In summary, the project is a little behind schedule due to the additional works identified;
  • Following the downtakings and excavations it was discovered that the existing internal walls had no foundations and following inspection by the structural engineer, these walls had to be taken down, new foundations laid and new blockwork walls formed including additional steelwork in order to maintain the structural integrity of the building;
  • The new steel frame for the extension will be on site and erected w/c 27 February 2012 and thereafter works for the new floor slab can begin. This will be one of the most visually striking aspects of the project, as you can see from the images below the site is still at a stage where its hard to imagine the finished product.
Finally this week, all of the office team would like congratulate Clober Farm Project Coordinator Shaun Dargan and his wife Stephanie on the birth of their son Padraig James.  Remember, if you have any queries or would like to discuss spending time at Clober Farm feel free to get in touch with the team at the office info@sisonline.org

Clober Farm Strategy Group

As construction work begins at Clober Farm, we undertake the task of developing a strategy for the long term management and usage of what will be a tremendously important facility. This simply means defining exactly what Clober Farm will be used for, who will be allowed to use it and how it will be funded and managed in the longer term. Spinal Injuries Scotland has always worked to involve our membership in our development over the years. As such Clober Farm will be an excellent opportunity for you to put forward your thoughts and recommendations on how it can best meet the needs of our members.

In the next few months focus groups will be arranged across the country, and any members wishing to meet with the project team can come along and share their thoughts and hear more about the plans for the long term future of CloberFarm.

If you would like to share your opinion or find out more please contact the office, where we will be happy to help. info@sisonline.org 0141 427 7686
